Description

Thursday, September 4, 2025 (5:00–8:00?PM), the National Center for Ecological Analysis and Synthesis (NCEAS) invites the public to join a special 30th Anniversary celebration as part of Santa Barbara’s vibrant First Thursday Art Walk. This lively evening event will be held on the 3rd Floor Terrace at 1021 Anacapa Street, downtown Santa Barbara—free and open to all. As part of the festivities, NCEAS will host a showcase by our newest Artist in Residence Beth Altringer Eagle, an award-winning design and technology leader joining NCEAS this summer. Beth has been working closely with NCEAS scientists and visiting researchers to explore the connections between art, design, and environmental science. Her work will be featured during the First Thursday Art Walk, inviting the public into dialogue about how creativity can help us better understand and engage with our changing planet. Since its founding in 1995, NCEAS has pioneered collaborative, data-driven science that advances solutions for people and nature. Over three decades, the center has convened more than 400 working groups and 11,000 scientists from around the world, producing research that has shaped global conservation and sustainability efforts.
