Rosal Ortega is a Spanish Classical and Flamenco dancer, singer and choreographer born and based in Sta. Barbara, Calif. A 9th-generation member of the historic Cota and Ortega families dating back to the Sta. Barbara Presidio. She is the granddaughter of Juan Cota and daughter of Irene Rosita Cota Tuttle—both influential figures in the local dance community. Rosal began dancing at six and was performing professionally in Seville, Spain by thirteen. A former Old Spanish Days Spirit of Fiesta, she trained with master artists including Juan Talavera, Roberto Amaral, Clarita Corona, Arte Flamenco and Paco and Yolanda Arroyo. She has performed throughout Calif, the U.S., Japan and with the Spanish Dance Company of Charo in Las Vegas, Lake Tahoe and Reno. For 15 years she has performed in L.A. venues directed by Yvette Garcia and now directs Rosal Ortega & Flamenco Olé, Rosal's Adult Flamenco Dance classes: Passion, Culture and Community
